Medal of Honor Museum volunteer Fred Headrick, of the 1st Army 3rd Armor Division, shows his Company Commander Elmer Hovland’s helmet that is on display inside the museum. During World War II, a sniper shot Hovland’s helmet while he was wearing it on March 6, 1944 in Cologne, Germany. Hovland is still alive today to tell about it.
