OOLTEWAH: Local man caddies on PGA Tour

If you watched the Bob Hope Golf Desert Classic two weeks ago on Golf Channel, that caddie with pro David Duval was Ooltewah’s own Mitch Knox. Mr. Knox toted Mr. Duval’s bag several years ago and was on the golfer’s bag when he won the British Open.

If you travel Snow Hill Road often, you’ve seen that parcel of property between the Snow Hill Publix Center and Ooltewah High School. And, like you, I was curious about all the work being done to clear the property.

The Gymnastics Center of Chattanooga is having a Daddy-Daughter Hoe-Down Dance on Jan. 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Ooltewah United Methodist Church. Tickets are $25 per couple and includes a barbecue dinner at 4:30 p.m. Emma and I will see you there.

A zoning hearing for a controversial apartment complex proposed for the 5300 block of Hunter Road is Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Hamilton County Courthouse.

OOLTEWAH: HMS Golf Course has new managers

Happy New Year! Good to see 2009 in the rearview mirror and let's pray for a better 2010. HMS Golf, a golf course management firm based in Woodstock, Ga., has been hired by Northwest Georgia Bank to manage The Champions Club Golf Course here in Ooltewah. That's good news for the course that just emerged from bankruptcy.

OOLTEWAH: Shoppes at Mountain View Center needs tenants

I spoke with Sam Boles of First Management this week. He's the leasing director for the Publix Center and the new Shoppes at Mountain View Center that is now under construction across Snow Hill Road from the Publix.


Camp Awesome at Ooltewah’s Fit One Complex will begin Tuesday, with another session beginning Dec. 5.

OOLTEWAH: Owls face Admirals this weekend

The Ooltewah Owls will host the Farragut Admirals Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in a first round football playoff game.

OOLTEWAH: Christmas parade planned

Hamilton Place Mall Christmas Parade will be Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. It's a fun parade and goes around the inner ring of the mall.

OOLTEWAH: Owls face Blue Raiders

The Ooltewah High School football team will travel to Cleveland Oct. 23 to play the Blue Raiders of Cleveland High School. The football Owls are 8-0 this year. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. If you can't make the trip, you can listen to the game on 105.1-FM ESPN Radio.
