Where in Soddy-Daisy can you find mink coats, purses by Chanel, Coach and Louis Vuitton and shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo and Stuart Weitzman?
Consigning Women has items from all of the above brands, plus more mid-range items from Chico, American Eagle, Hollister, Coldwater Creek, Ann Taylor and Michael Kors.
Johnita Jones, owner of the upscale resale shop, previously owned the Clothes Basket in Hixson for three years. She opened Consigning Women as a retirement venture in October 2010 and moved it to Soddy-Daisy around Thanksgiving 2011. Jones also operates an eBay store out of the same location.
She said she sees the consignment shop as the ultimate form of recycling.
Consignors can clean out their closets and bring in items to sell and receive 40 percent of the proceeds. If the item fails to sell after one or two seasons, it is donated to Serenity Pointe, a battered-women’s shelter in Dunlap, Tenn., said store sales associate Leanna Wiggins.
“We tend to have more upscale, nice dress clothes,” Wiggins said. “You don’t have to go to the department store and spend hundreds of dollars. You can come here and get the same item for a low price.”
The store is currently offering 70 percent off all winter items, aside from Chico jeans (one of the shop’s most popular items) and mink and fox coats.
All spring and summer items will be displayed starting March 19.
