Bi-Lo donates $6,800 in school supplies

From left, Hamilton County PTA Council president Dwight Hunter, second vice president Wayne S. Brown, member Gail Phillips and president-elect Sherrie Ford receive school supply donations from area store directors Sue Moore, Michael Thurmond, Calvin Gilreath and Eddie Vaughn.

More than a dozen Dole banana boxes recently lined a hallway of the Hamilton County Council of PTAs Teacher Supply Depot. But the boxes weren’t filled with produce.

Area Bi-Lo stores, including the Ooltewah, Lee Highway, Dallas Bay and East Brainerd Road locations, donated the boxes full of school supplies ranging from Sharpie markers and pens to glue sticks and notebooks. The supplies will be available for area teachers during designated “shopping days” when they can stock up free of charge.
