On the morning of Aug. 16, the outfielders in the Chattanooga Lookouts’ AT&T Field won’t be watching for hurtling baseballs. Instead, they’ll be doing poses like down dog, warrior and maybe even tree.
Hot Yoga Plus manager Blaire Foster and instructor Kari Pollard will be taking over the outfield that Saturday from 9-10 a.m. as a part of the first Yoga in the Outfield event.
The event is a partnership between the yoga studio and the Chattanooga Lookouts Baseball Club. Interested yogis can preregister for $5, or pay $10 at the door. The price includes entry to that night’s baseball game, said club Group Sales Manager Jennifer Crum.
“We are always interested in doing community-based events,” Foster said. “And I love the Lookouts. Bring the whole family and we’ll all hang out at the game later.”
“It’ll be an all-American sport plus yoga,” laughed Pollard.
The hour-long class on the field will be easy enough for beginners, she added.
Crum said the Aug. 16 game is a special one during which nine sets of college football tickets will be given away.
She added that the stadium wants to continue to host more community events like Yoga in the Outfield.
“It’s something that’s different for the community. People always see AT&T Field as just a baseball stadium,” said Crum. “We want to branch out and use it as more facets. We want to show the community that we can host events on the field.”
