It’s not too late to be more than just an attendee at this year’s Hamilton County Fair, scheduled for Sept. 28-29.
Organizers are accepting food, craft, commercial and historical vendor applications through mid-September for any latecomers who’d like to be a part of this year’s event that runs both days from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
“We usually have about 40,000 people or so attend the fair,” said Hamilton County Fair Publicity Chair Gina Hatler. “With the fair being on an island, it’s a captive crowd. People come and stay all day to eat, shop and watch.”
Fees for vendors range from $125-$550, depending on the type of vendor, size of the booth and whether or not it has power. Complete information on those fees is available at hamiltontn.gov/fair or by calling 209-6030.
Online registration is also still available for some of the home-centered and agricultural competitions in which entrants compete for cash and prizes. Some of those competition categories include field crops, honey, livestock, baked goods, photography and clothing. For more information on those, visit hamiltontn.gov/fair/competitions.
Like years past, this year’s fair will feature 65 craft vendors, historical demonstrations, antique cars, lots of food options, three stages, an agricultural arena and plenty of activities for the whole family, Hatler said.
“It’s an old-fashioned outdoor event set on a 54-acre island that features all the things you might have found in our community 100 years ago, along with some of the things technology has added,” she said.
