The two wooden road bridges, also known as culverts, on Prospect Church Road are soon to be replaced with concrete structures.
Or at least that’s what the city of Collegedale is hoping for.
After waiting approximately two years to get environmental clearance on the project, City Engineer Joe Farrow said all bets are off on a specific timeline for the project, but he hopes it will be complete by December 2014.
“We’ve got the environmental approval, so now we’ve got to put together the construction package and submit it to the design office for their approval,” said Farrow, explaining that after those steps are completed the city can move forward with bidding out the project to a contractor.
Once the project officially gets underway, he estimates construction will take around six months. During that time, traffic congestion and confusion are expected, said Farrow.
“We’ll try minimize it and keep one lane open,” he said. “At the worst, we may have some traffic controllers.”
