Some say a healthy smile is priceless. Signature Smiles is bringing a literal sense to the saying with a Day of Free Dentistry Nov. 1.
Beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m., Dr. Kristen Conner and her team will offer free services, from cleanings to fillings and even tooth removal, on a first come, first served basis to anyone who is uninsured.
“They are going to be well taken care of while they are here,” said Signature Smiles marketing coordinator Starr Morgan. “Not a lot of people have dental insurance. Even if they do, it’s not the best. People just think, ‘Oh, it’s just my mouth,’ but if your mouth isn’t healthy it leads to other things.”
Dentistry by the Heart, a nonprofit organization that provides free dental care to those in need, is helping Signature Smiles put on the event, Morgan explained.
The Hixson dentist office held a similar event in September for active military personnel, veterans and their families during which 40 different patients received free dental care. Its success prompted the Nov. 1 event, which is expected to become an annual event, said Morgan.
“Just to sit and talk to some of these veterans or the ones that are active; it was amazing to hear their story and just to give back,” said Morgan. “It was overwhelming. The whole day was touching. I have a feeling this one will be too.”
The practice is also offering free breakfast and lunch to patients that day and a local chiropractor is joining the event with free massages.
And though Star says the busy event is exhausting for the staff, she adds, “It’s fun to give back. It’s not stressful for us.”
Signature Smiles is located at 1963 Northpoint Blvd. and can be reached at 285-6520.
