Kelly Brock, owner of Natural Body Spa and Shoppe, is infusing the spa’s mentality into a new clothing boutique called Verdé, scheduled to open its doors in early October.
The shop, located in the former Greenlife building in Riverview, is co-owned by Brock and her daughter Mary Alice Brock, who previously worked in Atlanta managing an Aveda Institute.
The mother-daughter duo describes the clothing the shop offers as versatile lifestyle wear, made of organic and ultra-soft fabrics that can be worn during all activities of the day, from work to Pilates class to a night out on the town.
“It’s fun, it’s edgy, it’s different,” said Mary Alice Brock.
“Everything has a little flair,” added Kelly Brock, who opened her first Natural Body location 16 years ago on Hixson Pike. “[A spa] is a very rewarding business. With the clothing it’s the same sort of thing. It’s fun to add it all together.”
The two Natural Body spa locations already offer clothing and accessories, but Verdé is expanding on the brands they carry, which include local clothing line Ahimsa as well as Heather, Red Haute and Yala. The new shop also carries pajamas, purses, jewelry, shoes and other accessories.
It even offers a unique jewelry line new to the United States called Uno de 50, which originated in Madrid, the Brocks said.
Kelly Brock said Natural Body has a focus on using “green” and organic materials, and so will Verdé — the Spanish word for green.
“[The name] Verdé came from the whole idea of staying green and natural,” she said.
“We work with great companies that really care about their fabric and where it comes from,” Mary Alice Brock added. “We try to find organic, bamboo or … the most comfortable fabric we can find.”
