Work is finally beginning in Soddy-Daisy on the traffic signals where Sequoyah Road intersects the off-ramp from Highway 27. City Manager Hardie Stulce said he had a preconstruction conference with officials and work was scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 19.
He said the project to repave portions of Montlake Road has been stalled indefinitely. Despite having the funding, design work and engineering for the project completed for about a year and a half, the city is waiting on the Federal Highway Administration to move the urban boundary 1,100 feet.
Stulce said the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency recommended approval of the project in June, but the urban boundary must be moved by the FHA before work can begin.
