Red Bank interviews for city manager

Red Bank commissioners will begin interviewing a new round of city manager candidates Tuesday, Sept. 25 beginning at 9 a.m.

Finance Director John Alexander has served as interim city manager since commissioners decided by a 3-2 vote to fire former city manager Chris Dorsey in October.

Commissioners voted to make the interviews public by a 3-2 vote.

“I think the public has a right to listen to those interviews,” said Mayor Monty Millard.

None of the five candidates selected are local.

“We are ideally looking for city manager experience,” said Millard. “We had a lot of very qualified, well-educated people apply.”

Candidates include Andrew Hyatt of Fairview, Tenn.; Charles Beal of McKenzie, Tenn.; David Strohl of Morton, Ill.; George Hayfield of Robbin, N.C.; and Randall Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.
