This October, The Colonnade is hosting the popular Broadway comedy “The Odd Couple,” the comedic plot and side-splitting script of which have been entertaining audiences for years through the popular TV and film offshoots.
Actors Charles and Kristin Nalley said they chose it for the first production of their all-new Fr3Lance Productions because of its fun, comedic script.
“We are trying to make this like a TV show,” said Charles Nalley. “We are adding a laugh track. We will play the original ‘Odd Couple’ theme songs. We have someone to take the stage in between the acts to warm up the crowd.”
The show is about friends Frank and Oscar, opposites that do not exactly attract but who do make for an entertaining play. The two men, one clean and uptight and the other messy and laid-back, become roommates due to some unfortunate circumstances and the play showcases the highs and lows of their new living arrangements.
The Nalleys said they have changed up their version to incorporate a 1980’s theme.
“The Odd Couple” is showing Oct. 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Additionally, there is a matinee performance Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. that is being co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society. For this special performance all of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society in honor of actress Kandis Guice, a close friend of the Nalleys who played Belle in the recent production of “Beauty and the Beast,” as she was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
Additional events are also being held the day of the matinee to raise support. Before the play there will be a barbecue at noon and afterward, at 3:30 p.m., a head shaving party, with the donations going to Locks of Love.
“We want to bring cancer awareness to the area,” Charles Nalley said. “On the matinee day 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.”
Ticket prices for each of the showings are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors age 55 and older, $9 for students and $8 for groups of 15 or more.
