With the Christmas season approaching, several local business owners are partnering with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to provide a shopping event that also helps shoppers give back to those in need.
Called the “Holiday Shopping Exposé,” the event features local retailers and vendors from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the East Ridge Fairfield Inn and Suites located 1453 N. Mack Smith Road. Admission to the event is free but attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the Food Bank.
“We know how hard this economy has been for us as business owners, so we can imagine how hard it’s been for those who have been out of work,” said local business owner and event coordinator Debora Ervin. “This was one way we felt like we could help give back.”
Doorbuster savings will be available from participating vendors from 11 a.m. until noon and the first 25 people to RSVP to the event will receive a shopping bag with complimentary gifts inside, she said.
“We want people to come out and shop and avoid the crowds at the mall while supporting the Chattanooga Food Bank,” said Ervin.
According to her, the event will provide customers with a more personal shopping experience and the chance to learn more about local small businesses and franchises.
