Christmas is more than a month away, but Santa’s elves have toiled for months to be ready for the Hutcheson Medical Center Auxiliary’s annual Christmas Open House.
Next Wednesday, Nov. 14, the gift shop and main lobby at Hutcheson hospital’s main campus will resemble the North Pole more than North Georgia.
Ornaments, nativities, Christmas-themed gifts and home decor items will be available for purchase between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., according to Chareen Humble, manager of the hospital’s volunteer services.
The selection varies from year to year, but will include wreaths, candles, animated figures, collectibles and gifts covering a broad range of tastes and prices, she said.
“The Christmas merchandise will continue being sold through the holidays in The Hutch [the hospital’s gift shop],” said Humble.
Free items will be distributed throughout the day, there will be regular drawings for door prizes and refreshments will be served, according to event organizers.
Like all purchases from The Hutch, proceeds from the Christmas Open House will be donated to Hutcheson Medical Center.
In recent years the Auxiliary has helped refurbish the lobby at the hospital’s main entrance, its emergency room waiting area and the Women’s Center. The hospital’s volunteers also purchased a simulator of the cancer center located at Hutcheson on the Parkway.
