The grand opening will be June 1.

“Anytime we can come into a location and enlarge or expand, it’s a gift back to the customers,” said United Grocery Outlet Director of Stores Don Whitted. “This is our last hybrid meat market converted to a full meat market.”

Instead of offering only prepackaged meat varieties, the discount grocery store will now offer meat cut and prepared in the store, he said.

“It’s no longer a meat case, it’s a meat department,” said Whitted.

The discount retailer that has been in the area for more than 20 years was named the Tennessee Retailer of the Year in 2011 by the Tennessee Grocers & Convenience Store Association.

“People love the variety in our stores,” said Whitted. “People always experience that wow factor when they realize they’re going to get a great value and can still put gas in the car when they leave.”
