The Heritage House, at 1428 Jenkins Road, is gearing up for its Holiday Open House event being held Monday, Dec. 17 from 7-9 p.m.
The popular venue caters to private and public events throughout the year, and acts as the gathering place for groups like the AMBI Artists, Friends of East Brainerd, Chattanooga Songwriters Club and American Diversity Report as well as regularly held concerts and film series.
“We want to find out what other events people in the community want to have,” said Heritage House Director Chris Holley. “The whole facility will be open for people to see.”
The open house will include refreshments, balloon artists for the kids and representatives from many of Heritage House’s partners and groups that meet at the site on a regular basis, including local artists that will be selling everything from jewelry to fine art. The vendors will make the open house event a great place for some last minute holiday shopping, said Holley. A preview of upcoming events for Heritage House will also be discussed.
“When we first started the Heritage House … the first thing we did was ask the public what they wanted. They wanted more arts events, cultural events,” said Holley. “We are successful because we became a hub for what the public wants.”
The site is often rented by brides and other private parties at a low rental cost of $600 for 12 hours. Chattanooga residents can also rent the site for $50 per hour, and non-residents can rent it for $60 per hour.
“The open house event is going to be fun. Guests will see things they won’t see anywhere else with all the different artists who will be present… and find out about things right in their backyard that they didn’t know were available,” said Holley. “It’s their house. We are not a private group; we belong to the public.”
