The Rossville Recreation Department is offering a highly anticipated soccer program for the first time this year.
“Soccer is growing in popularity and we’re working to develop it in Rossville,” Rossville Athletic Director Chad Rogers said. “People are really loving and enjoying it.”
The Recreation Department has teamed up with Express Regional Soccer Association (ERSA) and will be providing soccer for both recreational and select teams.
Sign-ups have already started and Rogers said there has been a good response so far.
All children are encouraged to sign up to participate.
ERSA will also host a coed adult team and a men’s league for those age 19 and up.
Soccer season begins this September and will use the fields next to the Rossville Athletic Center. Games will fall on Saturdays unless there are weather or other types of conflicts.
“We are very appreciative to the city of Rossville for allowing us to use the fields and we look forward to providing soccer to the community,” said Karen Kelley, co-director of ERSA. “It’s going to be a win-win for everyone.”
She said ERSA welcomes all to volunteer, coach, play or just come out and enjoy soccer. ERSA provides field days, coaching clinics and skill clinics for players throughout the season.
Cost for those signing up for soccer are $60 per player for those in the under 4 and under 6 age groups, and $80 per player for those in the under 8 and under 19 age groups. The price of a uniform is included in the fee.
