Hixson’s Marti Beaver is prepping for her spin down the catwalk.

She will model clothing from Fancy Fanny’s Bridal and Formal Wear inside the Alhambra Shrine Temple for the local Shriners faction’s annual fundraising fashion show Aug. 4. A few more North Hamilton ladies of the temple will glide down the catwalk showcasing stylish clothing too.

“We would love to have anyone that would like to come to the show to come and support our cause,” said Beaver, who is coordinating the event. “Come out and enjoy a luncheon and lovely fashion show.”

The Alhambra Lady’s Fashion Show is a traditional fundraiser for the local Shriners group. This year’s ticket sales will help send children in need of medical treatment to hospitals and also purchase tablecloths and chair covers for future community fundraising events, which always help children get the medical care they need.

Tickets are $10 per person. Doors open at 10 a.m.

Those in attendance can visit with vendors on the floor before the show starts. Representatives from Mary Kay cosmetics, Cookie Lee jewelry, Home Interiors gifts, Pampered Chef and Thrift Warriors shop will be selling their wares.

At 11 a.m. attendees will be served by Alhambra Shrine Nobles a lunch of chicken salad, fruit, peach cobbler, tea and coffee. Then the fashion show models, decked to the nines from head to toe, will start the show.

The latest styles from Chattanooga stores like Maurices, Christopher & Banks, Catherines, Fancy Fanny’s Bridal and Formal Wear and Fit for a Queen will be worn in the show.

“The models are Divan and Noble ladies of the temple,” said Beaver. “I have 15 models lined up. We’ve been doing the show for several years. I will model ‘after-five clothing’ from Fancy Fanny’s. I will model casual and dress wear from other stores.”

All clothing shown will be available for purchase at a discounted rate.

Beaver said the main focus of the temple is for its Shriners to transport children in need to hospitals in Cincinnati and Lexington to be treated free of charge for burns or handicaps.

“Bottom line, our children are our top priority,” said Beaver. “Any money raised at the temple that the children need for medical care goes to them. Four vans transport children daily three to five trips per week.”

According to past Potentate Stanley Wagner of East Ridge, the Shriners transport 600 children in the area to free medical care.

Alhambra Shrine International has 22 hospitals. Shriners have helped more than 1 million children since 1922. Children receive free medical care, stuffed animals, school supplies, movies and more thanks to local Shriners.

“The kids are the happiest you’ve ever seen in the world and so appreciative,” said Beaver, adding that one of the children the Shriners transport regularly is local celebrity Patrick Sharrock, who was featured on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
