Red Bank Pool is open to anyone no matter where they live.
Red Bank Pool will be open through Labor Day weekend. From left are Red Bank Pool manager Ken Buchanan and lifeguards Olivia Ferguson and Tanner Bailey.
“This pool is one of the best-kept secrets this side of the river,” said pool manager Ken Buchanan. “I don’t think there is another outdoor pool north of the river open to the public.”
Aug. 3-5 will be the last weekdays of this season that swimmers can visit the pool, but it will remain open Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day weekend.
“Every day I see someone new come in to the pool,” said Buchanan, who has managed the pool and coached the Red Bank Gators Swim Team since the late 1980s. “To have them tell you it’s a clean, well-run facility in a family atmosphere makes you feel good.”
Those age birth to 2 years get in free. Children age 4 through adults pay $3.50 per day and senior citizens pay $1.50 per day.
“We try to remember the economy the way it is with people out of work,” said Buchanan. “We try to keep our prices reasonable.”
He said the pool is 25 meters long and spans from 4 to 12 feet in depth. Four lifeguards are on duty most days and about 14 total are on staff.
