Seamless Summer kicks off June 7

Battlewood Apartments

Hickory Grove Trailer Park

Lakeview Middle School

Ringgold Middle School

Ringgold United Methodist Church

Other locations may be added later in the summer.

As summer heats up and schools let out, Catoosa County Public Schools will continue helping students through Seamless Summer.

The federally funded program that began several years ago kicks off again June 7.

“(The program) ensures children ages 18 and younger receive a nutritious meal through the summer break,” said Melissa Holcombe, school social worker and homeless liaison.

Between the hours of noon and 1 p.m., students will be able to receive a free, healthy meal at the following locations: Battlewood Apartments, Catoosa Garden Apartments, Hickory Grove Trailer Park, Lakeview Middle School, Ringgold Middle School and Ringgold United Methodist Church.

“We are in need of volunteers or church groups to assist in picking up the food and distributing it at the sites,” Holcombe said. “This is a wonderful way to do hands-on community work.”

She added that children do not have to live at any of the set locations to participate, but all food must be eaten at the sites.

Local organizations and churches will help with transporting and distributing lunches, and some are even providing programs during the meals. Holcombe said children do not have to participate in programs to receive a meal.

Seamless Summer will take place June 7 through July 16 with meals being served Monday through Friday each week from noon to 1 p.m. with the exception of Monday, July 5. To help with the program, contact Melissa Holcombe at 423-605-3071 or mholcombe@catoosa.k12.ga.us.
